    RE: Student interaction / Student groups. 

    Greetings New York City Council Committee on Education,

    I love Baruch College and The City University of New York. 

    I always treat everyone at Baruch College CUNY with the utmost respect at all times. That includes staff, professors, security guards, and students. Treating people respectfully is more important than anything. 

    I never participate in controversial conversations at Baruch College out of respect for people’s feelings. 

    I love Baruch College and The City University of New York. It’s the best opportunity ever.

    I’ve been living in the street homeless for the past five years. I believe that Baruch College CUNY is going to be my bridge to having an apartment. 

    I never intentionally partake in risky behavior. I don’t drink. I don’t smoke. I don’t party. I don’t have a criminal record. 

    I would like feedback from the New York City Council – Committee on Education regarding an issue I’m having at Baruch College CUNY. 

    I read that there are thousands of complaints from students against students every year in New York Colleges including New York City. 

    I read that CUNY is spending millions of dollars per year to defend complaints and lawsuits from CUNY students against CUNY staff and professors. 

    I politely asked the Baruch College CUNY staff if I could be excused from having to get into small groups and pairs with students. 

    I don’t mind getting into a big group and keeping quiet and observing. 

    I’m referencing getting into a small group or pair. 

    The Baruch College CUNY staff responded and said getting into small groups and pairs with students is mandatory and non-negotiable. 

    Even though I disagree with the Baruch College CUNY staff on this one issue, I hold them in the highest regard and treat them with the utmost respect at all times.

    The Baruch College CUNY staff and professors are as good as it gets. I appreciate the opportunity to be part of the Baruch College family. When I graduate from Baruch College I would like to attend a CUNY graduate school. 

    For the last three semesters (two at LaGuardia Community College and one at Baruch College) I have been lucky enough to avoid student groups.

    I don’t date and I’m not looking to network at Baruch College. I’m a people person and I enjoy meeting people but not under these circumstances.

    I would prefer to network outside of college where I don’t have to worry about complaints and getting in trouble at school. 

    I will also let all students in my groups know that I live in the street and am homeless just in case the student doesn’t want to be in a pair with a street homeless person. 

    I also notified my professors that it’s OK to notify the class that Mark Pine (me) is street homeless. I want the students in the class to know upfront because I’m confident that a lot of students and their parents wouldn’t want their children in small groups with street homeless people.

    It’s common knowledge that homeless people, in general, have a bad reputation. 

    Please advise if there is anything I can do to respectfully avoid student groups at Baruch College. It’s such a small part of school but has the ability to derail my entire education.

    Thanks to Baruch College, LaGuardia Community College, and The City University of New York I was able to pay my phone bill over a year in advance. It’s one thing to be homeless. It’s another thing to be homeless without a smart phone. Being homeless without a smart phone is like living in the 1990’s and earlier.

    Could you imagine being homeless, sleeping in a chair on the subway platform, and reading newspapers in bad light? Not my idea of the best time ever.

    Being homeless with an smart phone is endless possibilites, ability to study, entertainment, etc. I have a student YouTube premium account so I can watch videos for school off line and without commercials. It’s great.

    Not only do I have a smart phone but I have a Samsung A52 5G. If that’s not enough I have insurance with a $100 deductable so I can lose my phone three times per year and get a new phone. I’ve been robbed several times in the subway so the insurance works for me.

    Thanks to Baruch College, LaGuardia Community College, and The City University of New York I have laptops. I love my laptops.

    Thanks to Baruch College, LaGuardia Community College, and The City University of New York I was able to buy winter clothes so I don’t freeze this winter when I’m sleeping in chairs on the subway platforms in Midtown Manhattan. I tried the homeless shelters, I prefer to be homeless on my own terms instead of at those places.

    I’m not going to mention the clothing companies name here, although they have a free repair policy. Anytime I have an issue with my clothes, I can mail them to the company and they fix them for free. It’s the best deal.

    Thanks to Baruch College, LaGuardia Community College, and The City University of New York I was able to pay almost all the tickets I received from the MTA in the subway. Now when members of NYPD transit run my name I don’t have subway tickets from 2018 and before on my record. The transit police are always very nice to me. Now when they run my name they will see that I’m following the rules and paying my tickets. That’s respect.

    Thanks to Baruch College, LaGuardia Community College, and The City University of New York I have credibility. Instead of being a street homeless person in the welfare job program, I’m a college student at Baruch College. Albeit, a homeless colllege student.

    I already applied for jobs at almost every restaurant and retail store in the city and they didn’t hire me. I’m not sure if it’s becasue of my credit, age (45), etc. Also, I tell everyone I’m homeless. I’m not going to lie about it. Long story short, no retail company wanted to hire me. That means I have to sit around the welfare job program every day. Phone doesn’t work up there. No access to a computer. No WiFi. People crashing into me all day long.

    Thanks to Baruch College, LaGuardia Community College, and The City University of New York I’m becoming a 10X better entreprenur.

    Thanks to Baruch College, LaGuardia Community College, and The City University of New York I learned about how this country was formed. Before Baruch College I had no clue.

    Thanks to Baruch College, LaGuardia Community College, and The City University of New York learned about my carbon footprint.

    My life is like a video game. The game is to go from homeless to home. That’s what I’m trying to do. I have bad credit and evictions on my record.

    On a positive note, I don’t drink. I don’t smoke. I don’t do anything illegal. I don’t have a criminal record. I believe with the platform that CUNY is providing for me that I will have a roof over my head before I graduate.

    Thanks to Baruch College, LaGuardia Community College, and The City University of New York I filed my taxes. I’ve been homeless for years. I wasn’t filing my taxes. The amazing, super helpful, caring, and stellar financial aid office at LaGuardia Community College advised me to file my taxes. It feels great to have filed my taxes. I thought I was going to jail for not paying my taxes. It turns out that the IRS is very nice. I went to the IRS office at 290 Broadway in Manhattan. I filed a bunch of back tax returns and it turns out I don’t owe that much. At least not enough for the IRS to lock me up. I filed my New York State taxes too.

    Thanks to Baruch College, LaGuardia Community College, and The City University of New York I receive food stamps, cash assistance, health insurance, and storage to keep clean clothes.

    Thanks to Baruch College, LaGuardia Community College, and The City University of New York I have a place to shower. Not at school. A place I was able to pay for. A nice place.

    My goal is to attend Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY or another CUNY graduate school after I graduate from Baruch College.

    In my spare time, I’m working on charitable and entrepreneurial ventures. I am working on raising money from professional accredited investors to create a nonprofit that will help people obtain state-issued licenses. For example, a real estate salesperson’s license. I have to consult with attornies and make sure it’s legal.

    I’m also working on trying to create several entertainment and media-based projects. For example, a broadway show, television, and movie project about digital identity theft. For example, people editing audio of innocent victims into new conversations to get them in trouble. People editing videos of innocent victims to set them up. People using video cameras to sabotage victims. People erasing evidence. People impersonating others with email and social media.

    It’s all about the ways people are using digital technologies to sabotage innocent victims. I would like to create awareness to try and help people.

    When I started school, decades ago, we used pensils, paper, and typewriters. I don’t even remember having a typewriter at home. I wrote my homework by hand. I’m enjoying school a lot more now with the technology. It’s a lot more fun. The technology is allowing me to learn valuable information.

  • Opinion: Letter to Baruch College about respecting the opportunity.

    Greetings Baruch College,

    I completely understand you have a large school to run with many students. 

    I’m patiently waiting for the instructions regarding the probation appeal.

    I’m never submitting another student grievance under any circumstances. 

    Being a student at Baruch College has many benefits. 

    I just paid my T Mobile phone bill, the best plan with mobile hotspot, for more than a year in advance. That is a huge benefit for a homeless person. That’s great for my studies, my lifeline, etc.

    I just paid for MTA tickets I’ve accumulated over the years, so I don’t get arrested in the subway this winter. I could have run into issues with the transit police if I didn’t take care of the MTA tickets. The transit police are always very nice, but rules are rules. 

    I was able to buy a new laptop for school today. I was using a Google Chromebook. Now I realize that a Windows computer is necessary for my classes. I picked one up on Amazon for a great deal. 

    I can list dozens or hundreds of additional reasons here. 

    Last but not least, I’m becoming a 10X better writer thanks to my professors. By next semester, I believe my future professors will see the dedication and commitment I’ve made to improve my writing because it’s such a crucial part of the college experience. 

    I used to think college was unnecessary when I was younger. I realize now that college prepares me for the real world because I did everything in reverse order. 

    With the platform provided by Baruch College, I will have a roof over my head one day. The sooner the better 🙂 

    All my assignments are being turned in on time or early except for one small homework that I couldn’t complete without my windows computer. I let my professor know the situation and he is very understanding. 

    I earned two A- on the other assignments. The one I’m late for will be submitted in a few days. In the meantime I’m studying with the laptop I have.  

    I appreciate the consideration that you have provided for me as one of the thousands of students. I look forward to hearing your instructions when you are available.

  • Opinion: Baruch College kept me out of jail.

    Now NYC law enforcement is making up lies to try and have me kicked out.

    People I know pay NYC law enforcement to harass and sabotage me. They don’t care who I tell. They won’t stop. 

    Baruch College probably saved me from going to jail. 

    If NYC law enforcement got me in a cage, they would do horrible things to me, the food I eat, etc. If anyone in social media land doesn’t believe me, I’ll swing by the office of any major social media platform, and I’ll show you what NYC law enforcement has done to me. 

    NYC law enforcement wrote me thousands of dollars in tickets that I was able to pay thanks to my student loans and money I earned delivering food. That is before NYC law enforcement wrote me thousands of dollars in tickets for riding a regular bicycle while delivering food. 

    NYC law enforcement wrote me approximately 11 tickets on subways and busses. Do you know anyone that received that many tickets? I paid all but two. I just paid about $500 to the MTA. 

    I have no criminal record. I don’t drink. I don’t smoke. I don’t party. I don’t do anything illegal. 

    Another way Baruch College saved me from almost having to go to jail was by affording me the ability to be able to pay for a legal website. I was able to ask attornies questions. 

    What happened was the Nassau County Police Department took audio of me that NYC law enforcement is in possession of. The audio is of me complaining about NYC law enforcement on the phone while they are attacking and teasing me. 

    Thanks to Baruch College I was able to pay my phone bill in advance for more than a year. If it wasn’t for Baruch College, I wouldn’t even have a phone. I’d be in jail.

    Nassau County law enforcement bought a phone and said it was mine. Nassau County law enforcement edited the audio that NYC law enforcement has of me and created new conversations with people who work for Nassau County Police Headquarters. 

    The people at Nassau County Police Headquarters signed sworn statements that the calls were real.

    The scam that Nassau County law enforcement ran on me is similar to the movie from 1989 called “Tango and Cash.” 

    Thanks to Baruch College I was able to pay for the website that allowed me to ask lawyers questions. 

    My public defender was trying to sabotage my case because he was hand-selected by NYC law enforcement. 

    The Nassau County District Attorney knew I was innocent and pretended they didn’t know.

    I’ve been calling the NYC District Attorney and left messages asking for help.

    Once NYC law enforcement saw that I figured out how to decently represent myself and that I wasn’t going to use their public defender, they let me go with a violation. 

    I’m going on the record and saying the judge was very fair. Everyone else involved was breaking the law in my nonattorney, civilian, opinion.

    One of the reasons NYC law enforcement let me go is because they are going to try and use a similar scam to get me kicked out of Baruch College. They didn’t want me exposing them in the court record, and then they were going to turn around and use the same exact scam. 

    NYC law enforcement also is trying to get rid of my actual phone. Thanks to Baruch College, I was able to pay for 14 months in advance. My phone bill is paid over a year in advance. 

    I have called various law enforcement and government agencies thousands of times. If I didn’t, NYC law enforcement could have just had a few people shove their phones in my face, crash into me, etc., and make up lies and say he started with them.  

    I’m always respectful to the NYPD in person and everyone else who works for the government including everyone at Baruch College and CUNY. 

    My issue is not with any of you. It’s with the high-ranking members of NYC law enforcement that took money to ruin my life. I am trying to expose them legally. They aren’t happy about that.

    New York City law enforcement is going to try and lie and say I was rude to several people at Baruch College. Of course, they will have several eye witnesses. It’s the same scam they use over and over. I’m not giving up.

  • Opinion: Baruch College Probation Appeal. September 21, 2021.

    I’m never sending another student grievance under any circumstances.

    First and foremost, I treat everyone at CUNY with the utmost respect at all times.

    That includes staff, professors, security guards, and students.

    Treating people respectfully is more important than anything. I never participate in controversial conversations at Baruch College out of respect for people’s feelings.

    I love Baruch College and The City University of New York. It’s the best opportunity ever.

    My goal is to attend Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY or another CUNY graduate school after graduating from Baruch College.

    I would like to appeal the probation because I believe all the student grievances I submitted were valid. Even if there was one or two that wasn’t valid, they weren’t inappropriate or disrespectful.

    I give the staff at CUNY permission to view any email I’ve ever sent at CUNY. I treat all staff and professors with the utmost respect at all times. If anyone looks at the emails I’ve sent at school, they will see how much I appreciate the opportunity to be
    here.

    I have the utmost respect for everyone at Baruch College/CUNY.

    I treat all professors with the utmost respect at all times. I have good student strategies, so I’ll always be OK in classes. For example, I’ve already started to turn in assignments this semester in September that aren’t due until October and November. I’ve already started studying and reading material that isn’t being covered until October, November, and December. I rarely have to think about a due date. The second I see an assignment, I start working on it.

    If someone poured a can of paint on my head and snapped my laptop in half at CUNY, I would say thank you and wipe it off. At this point, I wouldn’t even report it.

    There is no opportunity for me right now that even comes close to CUNY. I’m making the best of all situations at CUNY.

    If I’m correct, I’ve been on the Dean’s List for four semesters at Baruch College and LaGuardia Community College.

    I’m respectfully asking for one more chance to keep a clean slate. I promise I will make the most of the opportunity.

    If anyone wants copies of the actual student grievances I submitted, I would be happy to provide them.

    I would like to quickly review each student grievance.

    • 1. One student grievance was just to notify that a previous student grievance was sent to the wrong email address.
    • 2. I sent a brief and respectful student grievance to say that I believe that it might be a good idea for students to be able to access their attendance records in real-time in CUNY First. I also quickly mentioned that it might be a good idea to have more security cameras inside Baruch College for all student’s protection.
    • 3. I sent a student grievance saying that a student tried to purposely crash into me on a day that there were no classes, the school was empty, and it happened in clear view of a security camera.
    • 4. I sent a student grievance asking why some students are allowed to pick their classes three days before other students.
    • 5. I sent a student grievance that I don’t believe it’s fair for students to be required to have to get into small groups and pairs with other students in classes. I think students should have the option to be their own group in classes. This request was inspired by the large number of complaints from students against students in all New York colleges, not just Baruch College and CUNY.
    • 6. Another student grievance was that I would skip a class because the day’s lesson was to talk about the police torturing people. I was told not to discuss my police issues with anyone at school. I didn’t want to even be in the room when the topic was being discussed.
    • 7. I sent a student grievance that rich people I know are paying a small group of NYC law enforcement to sabotage me. They harass me in close proximity to Baruch College. I get along great with 99.9% of the police. I interact with the police all the time.
    • I think that was it.

    • Please give me another chance if possible. I promise no one will never hear another word from me again that isn’t something good. If not, I respect the decision.

    • As I emailed yesterday, it’s very generous of Baruch College CUNY to
      allow students to appeal the probation process.

    • I don’t drink. I don’t smoke. I don’t party. I don’t do anything illegal. I don’t have a criminal record.

    • I respect any decision that is given to me. Either way, I am walking on eggshells and following all the rules.
    • I’m never submitting another student grievance. I’m going to continue to take the high road in all situations and be a positive member of CUNY.

  • Opinion: My student loans and NYC law enforcement.

    People I know are paying NYC law enforcement to try and sabotage me. NYC law enforcement doesn’t want me to get my student loans. If I’m correct, I believe my student loans are supposed to be direct deposited into my account anyday.

    NYC law enforcment tried to set me up and lock me up, it didn’t work. NYC law enforcment was able to sabotage my money and I’ve been homeless for five years.

    How does NYC law enforcement plan on trying to get me kicked out of college?

    A few ways.

    NYC law enforcement sends people in regular clothes, not uniform, to try and pick fights me with every day.

    The number one way NYC law enforcement is trying to have me kicked out of Baruch College is a scam that was featured in the 1989 movie “Tango and Cash.”

    NYC law enforcment has edited audio of me reporting them into new conversations. They are going to say my words were directed to students, staff, and professors at Baruch College.

    Of course, NYC law enforcement will have as many witnesses as they think they need. Moreover, NYC law enforcement has people shove their phones in my face several times per day.

    If anyone has any ideas how to legally deal with this please let me know.

  • Opinion: Email to Baruch College about appealing the decision to put me on disciplinary probation.

    Please let me know if there is any way to appeal the decision to put me on probation? 

    I was reading about probation on the website and I’m not sure. 

    I’m never using the student grievance form under any circumstances. 

    If I can appeal the decision to put me on probation I would like to go through with that process.

  • Opinion: NYC law enforcement is strongly thinking about lying and saying I had some type of outburst in class at Baruch College.

    People I know pay New York City law enforcement and their plainclothes sabotage team to harass me every day.

    I know a lot of NYC law enforcement’s scams, the same way they know me inside and out.

    NYC law enforcement has tons of audio of me reporting them while they are viciously harassing me.

    NYC law enforcement wants to use the audio of me and say the conversation originated in a Baruch College classroom.

    At LaGuardia Community College I earned a 3.975 GPA while living in the street with NYC law enforcement harassing me the whole time.

    At Baruch College I earned a 4.0 GPA last semester living in the street.

    In my opinion, the bar is so low for NYC law enforcement to ruin someone’s life and severely sabotage them.

    I’ve been a model student for four semesters. NYC law enforcement has had several students harass me at college and try to pick fights with me. I ignored them all.

    Now NYC law enforcement wants to take audio of me reporting them and say I had some type of outburst in a class.

    I’m homeless. Thank’s to Baruch College CUNY I have laptops, phone, clothes, place to shower, etc. I receive a few thousand dollars per semester in student loans that I use for bills.

    I don’t drink. I don’t smoke. I don’t party. I don’t do anything illegal. I don’t have a criminal record.

    NYC law enforcement has all the witnesses at Baruch College that they need.

    They are thinking if they can sell that I had some type of outburst in class.

    For the record. Since this semester has started I’ve already began turning in homework that is due in October and November. It’s still September.

    Every email I’ve ever sent to a professor and staff at Baruch College has been beyond respectful.

    NYC law enforcement has already edited the audio of me that they plan on using to lie and say I had an outburst in class.

    All these blog posts are supposed to be going into multiple cloud backups that can’t be erased. These blog posts are dated and being shared to social media.

    I have had students at LaGuardia Community College and Baruch College physically attack me and I didn’t react at all. I don’t even report it anymore. I just take it. There is nothing else I can do.

    I have had staff at Baruch College send me disrespectful and insulting emails on behalf of NYC law enforcement that NYC law enforcement probably wrote. I responded with the utmost respect at all times regardless.

    Even with NYC law enforcement trying to sabotage my every move at Baruch College like they do everywhere else, it’s still the best opportunity for me until I figure out how to earn money.

    I don’t take it personal when civilians try and sabotage me on behalf of the police. They have no choice. If they say no, NYC law enforcement will make their lives a living hell.

    What would you do if NYC law enforcement asked you to fire me? Let’s say I was providing web marketing for you or let’s say I was cleaning your apartment every week. A member of NYC law enforcement shows up to your home and says we want you to fire Mark Pine. We don’t want him earning any money.

    What would you do if some gangster looking police officers made that request while looking down at you?

  • Opinion: Baruch College CUNY won’t excuse me from having to interact with students.

    This is an email I’m sending to colleges in the United States asking for guidance about a situation I’m having at Baruch College in Manhattan.

    Greetings, 

    I’m a student at Baruch College CUNY in New York City. 

    I’m requesting guidance from you regarding a situation I’m having at Baruch College CUNY in Manhattan. 

    I have gone through the proper channels at Baruch College CUNY and asked to be excused from interacting with students in my classes. For example, there are times when professors will ask the class to get into small groups and pairs with each other. 

    I always treat everyone at Baruch College with the utmost respect at all times. That is more important than anything. 

    I have politely asked the staff at Baruch College if I could be my own group in classes. I don’t feel comfortable getting into groups with students and interacting with them. 

    I have had several students try and pick fights with me since I started at Baruch College CUNY. I have no idea who any of them are. I ignored the students and reported it. At this point, I don’t even report when I’m harassed at school anymore. I ignore students when they tease me for no reason, which is often. 

    I have been living in the street homeless for five years. All I have right now is Baruch College CUNY. I don’t want to jeopardize my standing at Baruch College CUNY due to unwarranted and unsubstantiated student complaints. 

    I read that the amount of student complaints from students against students is out of control in New York. It doesn’t surprise me after experiencing the amount of abuse I have to endure at college. 

    I don’t drink. I don’t smoke. I don’t party. I don’t date. I don’t do anything illegal. I don’t have a criminal record. 

    I’m only using my personal email to request feedback from the staff at various colleges regarding this situation. If you don’t want to respond, I understand. If you have any information that you or anyone at the school can share, it’s appreciated. 

    I have already gone through all the proper channels at Baruch College CUNY, and the answer is I have to interact with students. If a student makes an unsubstantiated claim against me, it’s going to be a major distraction. 

    I have been informed that student interaction is necessary to create a well rounded student. 

    My response to that is I’m 45 years old. I’ve performed web marketing services for dozens of companies. I have experience interacting with hundreds of individuals throughout the years. 

    Even though I’m homeless, I’m still trying to launch my own companies. In my spare time, I’m networking. 

    Outside of school, I don’t have to worry about people complaining about me and trying to get me kicked out of college. I treat everyone respectfully. I don’t do anything illegal. 

    I’m optimistic that one day I’ll have a roof back over my head. In the meantime, I’m street homeless in New York City. 

    I prefer to be street homeless than living in a homeless shelter. I have a place to shower and keep clean clothes. I look presentable. 

    I’ve been a student at CUNY for two years. After I graduate from Baruch College CUNY, my plan is to attend a CUNY graduate school. 

    The CUNY staff and professors at CUNY are very helpful. This is the only issue I’ve ever had at college. 

    From your experience in the education field, is there anything I can do so that I can be excused from having to interact with students in my classes?

  • Opinion: NYC law enforcment uses mental health as a weapon.

    People I know pay New York City law enforcement to torture me.

    NYC law enforcement has a huge plain clothes team that they use to try and pick fights with me, attack me, tease me, and harass me every day. They are as annoying as it gets.

    NYC law enforcement’s scam team has broken my ribs, they broke my sholder, they spit in my face, they have their dogs go to the bathroom right next to me anytime I’m sitting in public, etc.

    I’m smart enought to know to ignore them. In my opinion, if the police send people to pick fights with you and you react, your going to be arrested.

    When I report the police of course they want to attack my mental health.

    I was arrested in Nassau County Long Island and charged with a misdemeanor. In my opinion, my public defender was purposly trying to sabotage my case.

    The public defender kept recomending a mental health evaluation. I’m sure the majority of doctors would say no if NYC law enforcment asked them to sabotage an innocent person.

    Would you, the reader, tell the police no if they asked you to sabotage an innocent person?

    What I don’t believe is that the doctor giving the mental health evaluation would be fair. It would have been a doctor that is friends with the police.

    I have had several members of NYC law enforcement tease me when I report them. Sometimes they will pick up the phone and say “Bellevue Hospital.”
