Opinion: When the NYC police have civilian women and men blow vape smoke at me while harassing me this is the letter I give to the medical staff at emergency rooms and urgent cares.

To Medical Staff / Emergency Department / Urgent Care Staff,

Greetings,

I am providing this note to help explain why I am seeking medical attention today and to make the intake process easier for staff.

I do not smoke, drink alcohol, or use drugs. I do not engage in illegal activity. I also do not have a criminal record.

I am always polite and respectful to hospital and urgent care staff, including medical employees, security personnel, and law enforcement officers working at medical facilities.

I have been seeking medical care on multiple occasions because while in public, strangers have blown marijuana smoke, vape smoke, or other smoke in my direction. After these incidents, I experience the feeling of smoking marijuana.

My reason for visiting today is to make sure I am physically okay and to receive an appropriate medical evaluation based on the symptom I am experiencing.

I have never said, “I feel high” in my life and I never will.

Every major hospital and urgent care (CityMD, GoHealth, Medrite) in New York City are amazing. New York City is lucky to have you.
