Opinion: Email to Baruch College staff about maintaining my privacy at school. September 7, 2021.

Greetings,

I just got out of the emergency room at the hospital about an hour ago. Nothing COVID-related or contagious, something else.

This semester I’m taking three writing classes total. One is about grammar. I am very excited to improve my skills as a writer.

Thank you for the information.

I sent you the assignment due on September 20, 2021. The television show project is fantastic and a lot of fun to work on.

I’ve already begun work on homework for the class that isn’t due until October and November.

It’s not a question about putting in the work. It’s a question about safety and respect for others.

I would think many students wouldn’t want to be in pairs with homeless people. The same goes for their parents.

I live in the street and subway. I have been homeless for five years.

I don’t drink. I don’t smoke. I don’t party. I don’t have a criminal record.

I have a place to shower and keep clean clothes.

I’m optimistic I’ll have a roof over my head one day soon with the resources and opportunities provided for me by HRA and CUNY.

As a 45-year-old street homeless person, I don’t think it’s a good idea to mix with students.

All I need is a D average to stay at Baruch College. So far I have a 4.0 and 3.975 after 4 full-time semesters.

I’d be happy with a D. If I deserve an F, I’ll take an F. I’d prefer a D 🙂

It looks to me like student interaction is only about 5 to 10 percent of the total grade. If I receive a zero on those assignments I should be able to earn a C or D overall.

I respect your position and understand that I’ll receive a zero on those assignments.

I love Baruch College. I’m actually at school right now studying even though all classes are canceled this week.

I’m going to spend seven days a week at school every day until the end of the semester, so I can have all my schoolwork turned in on time or early. That and I don’t have anywhere else to charge my devices.

After I graduate from Baruch College, my goal is to attend Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY.

You have always been very helpful to me. I have the maximum amount of respect for you and all my professors. That is in addition to all the staff at Baruch College. This college is remarkable.

Baruch College is the best opportunity ever, especially for me.

I don’t want to waste your time with a long email, so I will keep this email brief.

Before I started at Baruch College, I had nothing. Now I have a smartphone, laptop, winter coat, shoes, a place to shower, food, etc.

In the meantime, I’m contacting members of the city council and people who work for the federal, state, and city governments trying to get a new rule set for students that want to maintain their privacy at schools.

Thank you and have a great day.

Ever upward,

I always treat everyone at Baruch College with the utmost respect at all times.

That includes staff, professors, security guards, and students.

Treating people respectfully is more important than anything.

I never participate in controversial conversations at Baruch College out of respect for people’s feelings.

I love Baruch College and The City University of New York. It’s the best opportunity ever.
